Powhiri

Yesterday we had a Powhiri for the new kids that comes to Glen Taylor School. And the Kapa Haka kids performed and I was in the Kapa Haka. It is very cool to see how they bless new people into our school. Well done to Josephine,Savanah and Kayla for doing the karanga with wonderful and powerful voices!

Snap Fittness

Today in  the morning we had a professional trainer that came in to our school and trained Room 9 so we can get fit, healthy and strong. I enjoyed it and my favorite exercise was when we were play in and out because it reminds me of in the river and in the bank. I was struggling on the push ups and the squats and now I am strict with my health right now because I want to be more healthy with what I eat. And thank you Alesio for coming in and training us hope we will see you again!

 

Netball

On Wednesday (yesterday) some people from our school went to the netball tournament. First we versed Bailey Road and we got a tie from 6 to 6 the worse thing happened and it was when the ball hit my head and I nearly fainted but instead of falling I got the worse headache so I didn't play 4 games because I was sick. I didn't want to go back to school because I knew I was going to get better but anyways I was walking around with Mrs Faalili and all of a sudden I spewed up and it was disgusting then I got better so I was lucky because I got to play the last game by versing St Pius school and we won and I enjoyed it because I got to play 2 games and also I got to join in the year  5 is last game so I enjoyed it! And also great work Glen Taylor School we did a great job.

Something nice for you!

This morning we have been doing some PB4L learning. So I made a poster about saying nice things about someone. So if you come to Glen Taylor you will see posters around so rip it off and give it to someone to brighten up there day.

PSYV

We arrived at the camp and they told us about the rules in the camp. Then they sent us to go and sleep or shower because we had lights out at 9:20.

We all woke up and we had breakfast and I had porridge and coco puffs and I enjoyed it very much. Then we got into our groups and went and did some activities I enjoyed doing the hobo stoves, archirie and air rifles because it was really fun and that was my highlight at camp.

Thank you to the social workers and Grace for taking us on this wonderful camp hope all of the campers had fun and thank you!

Birthday Nightmare (Lexi)

Today I read a story about a birthday nightmare writed by Lexiannah Huch. I really loved this wonderful story because it was very interesting, sad, overwhelming and heartbroken because it was very sad that all her cousins nearly lost their grandpa but the wonderful loving lord gave him some breath to stay alive again. 

I loved how she used very interesting words because I know the words but I don't really use it that much so well done.

This is my favorite book in the Toi Toi books so far and keep up the good work Lexi!

Louis Sachar

In reading my group Tiki is reading a book about a writer Louis Sachar. This person is famous for the Holes or movie, dogs don't tell jokes and sideways stories about school. I am looking forward to reading the book about him when I am done finishing the whole book I can share some things about the book on my blog. A Day out in.. (Fortaleza)

PSYV Camp

I got selected to go with a group from my school to go to a camp at Peter Snell Youth village. I can't wait to go because they said that there will be a lot of fun activities there that we are going to do so when i come back from the camp i will blog about what i did there!

Math Prodigy

For math everybody wanted to play prodigy and I didn't like that math game because I thought it was boring. But when I went into Mrs Faalili is class that is when I loved it so I played and played and I started to get used to it. So I started buying me wands,clothes and changing my style also I brought my own house. I got to battle people that was very high on there level and i got to battle my friends. Now i enjoy it and i want to play it all the time and I also moved up a level and did better in prodigy then what I did last year!

Congratulations Carlosi and Sar Yar Chan for getting a certificate in assembly so well done for being good this whole week ka pai and keep it up yous two i am proud of you guys!

Filming angles!

In Glen Taylor School we are doing some films. We do films because we are a manaikalani school so we make films and teachers pick a film to get presented in the theater where every school that is a manaikalani school. So we are learning about the angles and what we use when we shoot the videos so here is a slide about angles so enjoy what i made!

Keep New Zealand Clean!

Remember to take you bins out so you don't have a full and smelly bin for the rest of the week. And when you see a piece of rubbish pick it up so your community is not fulled with a lot of rubbish. In Glen Taylor School we have places for each class to make that place clean. And my goal is to pick up rubbish when I see it even if it is not mine What is your goal about rubbish?. I made a slide about rubbish and it is my first time making something like this so please don't judge me thank you!

E Pro Practise

On Friday a little group from my school went to Stone field school to practice for a E pro 8 challenge. A E pro challenge is when we have to make something like in the practice we pass 1 and got 50 points because we made a catapult and the catapult has to go far than 3 meters so when we test it the first try it went like about 2 meters then we went back and fixed it a little on the 2nd try i got to shoot it so when i shot it we passed the 1 level because it went pass 3 meters. I enjoyed it and I can't wait to go to the 

e pro Challenge.

Ambury Farm Day

Flower Math

Today we had to answer questions on this flower and then we had to add a stem on to it I enjoyed doing this and i am happy because I did six digits. I reached my goal and I want to try go higher in my math.

Netball Team

Congratulations to the netball team that went yesterday and played netball even though it was raining.

And also to the boys for trying their best and never giving up and thank you to Mrs Faalili who trained them and took them to the netball tournament. Now the year fives and sixes are getting ready for their tournaments!

Custom Fleet Blessing

Today I woke up so early and walked to school at dawn because we had a special event. We went to the city to bless our school principal (Mr Herlihy) is sister's new building. We arrived and did some performances and we blessed the building and thank you to Matua T for coming a long with us to help us with what we were doing. Thank you to Mr Herlihy is sister for inviting and welcoming us nicely to her wonderful building also i would like to say thank you to Matua Jordan and Whaea Binny for teaching us and coming with us to support us well we were doing the kapa haka performances. And lucky last Thank you Mr Herlihy and Ms Wrack for waking up so early to come to school and supervising us when we came early to school. I enjoyed it at the place we went and I also enjoyed the food and cookies so thank you!

Rugby Training

Today the girls and boys had rugby training. We changed into our rugby tops to go training we didn't realise that we had to bring shorts so we went training and did some tackling and got our shorts very muddy and when i say very muddy i mean everything was dirty like our face,clothes, feet and hair. Now we are not allowed to train in our school pants so if you are in the rugby team then remember to bring some shorts and a top :)

Cow Work

In Room 9 we got a sheet each about some sheep's and cows. I got a Ruminant stomach and a ruminant stomach is an animal that has four stomachs like a cow hope you enjoy reading through my work!

Ambury farm!

Today room 9 went to the farm and learnt about cows and all different farm animals. We had three leaders that were telling us about the animals and what they do with them well they are farming and there names were Sarah,Shorne and Meredith. These three farmers helped us with what we were learning about and actually told us some things we did not know so thank you very much. My favorite part well we were walking around the farm is when we were looking at the pigs. My less Favorite part was when the rain came out of no where and made us all soaked up and wet so that is why we went to the hen house for shelter. I would like to say thank you to all the parents and teachers for volunteering to come with room 9 on this wonderful and amazing farm trip hope you guys enjoyed it and we hope to see you guys next time on other trips.
